Pastor's Pen - July/August 2020

Pastor's Pen - July Aug. 2020

July is here!  Do you like the heat?  I really don’t.  However, I love the anticipation of the Fall. Sometimes the Christian life is exactly like that!  We go through challenging times, the heat is on, and as we walk with the Lord through the trials what gets us through is the hope we have on the other side. Ultimately our hope is in the Lord and what He will do. What a challenging trial this is for our churches, communities, families and our nation. What does the Lord want to accomplish in our lives through this season? How are we experiencing Him? Are we looking with Hope not simply to ‘get to the other side’ but for Him? Parents, how are you enjoying Christ? Husbands & Wives? Families? Church members? Nurses? Doctors? Pastors? Where do you fit in this? God is at work so how are we growing in our understanding of His power, His life and wisdom? Be encouraged throughout this season. This too shall pass! How are we growing in our faith in the meantime?

I was reading this morning from Psalm 90 and the Lord really spoke to my heart through this passage. Specifically, these verses:

Psalm 90:13–17

"Do return, O Lord; how long will it be? And be sorry for Your servants. O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Make us glad according to the days You have afflicted us, and the years we have seen evil. Let Your work appear to Your servants and Your majesty to their children. Let the favor of the LORD our God be upon us; And confirm for us the work of our hands; Yes, confirm the work of our hands."

Let’s keep looking to the Lord. Let’s not ‘sigh and tremble’ but rather ‘declare and rejoice’! God is moving. He is on High. How are we trusting Him and looking with hope to what He has promised us?

The Lord bless you. Thank you for your prayers, your service and continued encouragement. May the Lord Himself strengthen you and may we all with one voice rejoice in our King.

In Christ's love,
Pastor Erik
